Garrett County’s National Night Out A Success

Garrett County’s National Night Out was a hit again this year, drawing families out for an evening of fun, connection, and community on August 5. Held as part of the nationwide event that promotes partnerships between communities and law enforcement, this local gathering offered something for everyone.

From bounce houses and a dunking booth to free Kona Ice and food, the event was packed with family-friendly activities. Kids especially loved the chance to grab a photo with a county dump truck and collect goodies like mini flashlights, safety glasses, highlighters, and even hardhats emblazoned with the county emblem; thanks to the Garrett County Roads Department.

Several local agencies showed up in full support, including the Garrett County Health Department (who also sponsored the event), Natural Resources Police, Maryland State Police, the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, and Volunteer Fire Departments from both Gorman and Oakland.

While there was plenty more to see and do, one thing was clear: National Night Out continues to be a great way to bring neighbors together, say thank you to our first responders, and make lasting memories.
