ROAD CLOSURE – CULVERT REPLACEMENT
Road: Corona Bayard Road
Bridge Number: S-021
Feature Crossed: Tributary North Branch Potomac
Location: Corona Bayard Road, Garrett County, Maryland (39.282 N, 79.376 W)
Closure Period: Tuesday, May 5th (approximately 8 hours)
Reason: Culvert Replacement
The Garrett County Department of Public Works – Roads Division hereby provides notice that Corona Bayard Road will be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The closure is necessary to facilitate the complete replacement of the culvert Pipe. The road is expected to reopen on or after business hours on the same day, weather and construction conditions permitting.
NO THROUGH TRAFFIC will be permitted on Corona Bayard during the closure period. Local traffic will have access to their property at all times during the closure period.
Alternate Routes / Detour Information
Alternate routes are available for motorists needing to travel through the area:
- From the West (Wilson Corona Rd): Proceed southwest on Wilson Corona Rd toward the intersection with McMillan Rd.
- The Connector: Continue south onto Front St as you enter the town of Bayard.
- The Crossing: Turn east/northeast onto Althouse Hill Rd, which will carry traffic across the North Branch area.
- Reconnection: Follow Althouse Hill Rd until it terminates back at Corona-Bayard Rd. effectively bypassing the work zone from the south
Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time. Drivers of oversized or heavy vehicles should contact the Roads Division before travel to confirm route suitability.
Emergency Services: Emergency response vehicles will utilize Wilson Corona Road as the designated alternate route during the closure period. Garrett County 911 and area fire and EMS departments have been notified.
