Public Notice of Road Closure for Sang Run Road Bridge Replacement

 

PUBLIC NOTICE

ROAD CLOSURE – BRIDGE REPLACEMENT – SANG RUN ROAD

Road:  Sang Run Road

Bridge Number:  G-062

Feature Crossed:  Ginseng Run

Location:  Sang Run Road at the Historic Election House, Garrett County, Maryland

Closure Period:  May 11, 2026 – July 6, 2026 (approximately 8 weeks)

Reason:  Bridge Replacement

The Garrett County Department of Public Works – Roads Division hereby provides notice that Sang Run Road will be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC at Bridge G-062 over Ginseng Run beginning Monday, May 11, 2026. Bridge G-062 is located at the Historic Election House. The public is reminded this structure is NOT the steel bridge located over the Youghiogheny River. The closure is necessary to facilitate the complete replacement of the existing bridge structure. The road is expected to reopen on or about Monday, July 6, 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.

NO THROUGH TRAFFIC will be permitted on Sang Run Road at Bridge G-062 during the closure period. Local traffic will have access to their property at all times during the closure period.

Access During Closure

The following access points will remain available during the closure:

  • Youghiogheny River Put-In – Access will be maintained from the Lizzy Hoye side of the closure.
  • Sang Run State Park – Access will be maintained from the Lizzy Hoye side of the closure.

Alternate Routes / Detour Information

Two alternate routes are available for motorists needing to travel through the area:

  • Option 1: Oakland Sang Run Road → Swallow Falls Road
  • Option 2: Cranesville Road → White Rock Road

Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time. Drivers of oversized or heavy vehicles should contact the Roads Division before travel to confirm route suitability.

Emergency Services: Emergency response vehicles will utilize Swallow Falls Road as the designated alternate route during the closure period. Garrett County 911 and area fire and EMS departments have been notified.
