⚠️ Voluntary Evacuation Notice - SAVAGE RIVER Flooding Alert ⚠️

Garrett County Emergency Management is issuing a voluntary evacuation notice for residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas due to the threat of significant flooding from around the Savage River Dam.

Water is nearing the emergency spill way at this time; however, the integrity of the dam is still intact.

⚠️ Affected Areas: Savage River Rd below the dam to Bloomington. Areas near rivers, creeks, or drainage systems, and homes with a history of flooding

⚠️ Why You Should Consider Evacuating:
Savage River Dam has reached spillway level and with the added water into Savage River, this will cause the river to rise rapidly. Savage River Road can then flood with potential flooding to homes. Roads may become impassable. Emergency services may be delayed in severe conditions.

⚠️ If You Choose to Evacuate:
-Take essential supplies such as medications, ID, valuables, clothing, and food/water.
-Secure your home and turn off gas/electricity if advised.
-Notify friends or family of your evacuation plans.
-Go to a safe location such as the home of a friend or family or a designated shelter.

⚠️ If You Choose to Stay:
Be prepared for possible mandatory evacuation. Avoid traveling through flooded areas.
