Fork Run Recreation Area Master Plan
Garrett County is seeking public input on the Draft Fork Run Recreation Area Master Plan, a long-range planning document intended to guide future improvements at Fork Run Recreation Area.
The plan was developed with assistance from Penn Trails and Applied Trail Designs and focuses on improving the existing trail system, reducing long-term maintenance needs, enhancing the user experience, and identifying a practical sequence of future projects that may be advanced as funding becomes available.
The draft plan is available for public review through October 15, 2026. Comments received during the review period will be considered before the plan is presented to the Garrett County Board of County Commissioners for anticipated consideration of adoption on October 20, 2026.
Review the Draft Master Plan
The Draft Fork Run Recreation Area Master Plan provides an overall vision for the future of the recreation area, including recommendations for trail rehabilitation, trail realignments and connections, infrastructure improvements, access, user experience, and long-term maintenance.
The plan is intended to serve as a planning and implementation framework, rather than a commitment to construct every recommendation at once. Individual projects will move forward as funding, permitting, design, environmental review, and other implementation requirements allow.

I would include that second paragraph because it manages expectations very well. It tells the public this is a roadmap, not a construction authorization.
